Do you really think that balloons are for children? The team composed by Marcella, François Ulatowski (France), and Swan Lefevre (Italy) wanted to design a lamp that could assume different positions in the space, if necessary. For that we needed a special structure, either very heavy and resistant, or very light and flexible.

Lampelio and Lampedusa are lamps made with mylar balloons filled with helium.
They are designed to be the lightest possible, in a design process of removal of the superflous. In this way the structure is also the light diffuser, and the cable is also the size adjuster.

The lamps move freely in the space following the smallest air movement: they have their own behaviour just like pets.

Lampedusa is Lampelio’s evolution: we tried to domesticate its
wild light. We obtained a more concentrated light beam by using one balloon, half transparent and half cromed, and we managed to direct it trough a small weight.
